What is a Life Coaching relationship?

The personal Life Coach and client relationship is a unique nonjudgmental partnership where the coach observes, listens and provides the client tools to formulate measurable ways so that the client’s goals can be reached.

What’s the difference between Thearpy and Life Coaching?

The short answer and the one you will hear from other life coaching sites is “Therapy can focus more on our past”. Life coaching focuses on where you are now and helps you move forward towards creating the future that you want. Focusing on what you want and how to get there. Life Coaching is focused on creating solutions.

I would like to acknowledge many life coaches do amazing work and keep their scope of practice within their appropriate training and methodology. However, life coaching is still gaining acceptance as a profession and one such issue which arises is a lack of standardize training and certification. There is currently no State licensure for life coaches. One of the goals of State or National licensure of a profession is to protect the public from services which are below the level of care/services which is expected depending on the type of services offered.

In my experience as a licensed counselor and certified life coach, I have the unique ability to understand how the two professions differ and how they connect. I also have learned how Life Coaching, which can be very effective in achieving an individual’s goals, can be limited in it’s offering of assisting someone a way to overcome situations which would require more specialized and careful work. There is no way to separate our past from our present and leading into our future. To not acknowledge where we have been is offering a huge disservice to ourselves and our strength to have arrived to this point. Life coaching can be very successful at filling up our bucket of life with water, though with a focus on recognizing and acknowledging there may be a leak in the bucket can assist us with an opportunity to solve something at the source.

What kind of Life Coaching is it that I offer?

It might be best explained as I offer counseling services with an emphasis in life coaching. I work with individuals who might have had life coaching and recognized it wasn’t working in a way they wanted. It is important to stress for your own understanding and my compliance of ethical standards to my counseling license and my coaching certification, what I offer is counseling which can refocused into a lens that offers life coaching interventions as a primary focus of our work.

I will work one-on-one with you to assist you for obtaining your goals. Throughout the coaching relationship, the coach asks powerful questions that helps you access your best information, talents, emotions, and self.  I also provides support, objectivity, structure, energy, insight and technology (tools). Between sessions, you will have steps, exercises, and objectives to complete to make sure your being held accountable to achieve results.
